Water Committee majority votes for further work on metering

Metropolitan Wellington faces significant pressure on the delivery of safe and reliable drinking water to communities. Due to ageing pipes and reservoirs, population growth and increasing demand, and the need to look after the health and mauri of our water sources, the region needs to take action to address how much water it is using.

Hutt residents asked for views on improving the wastewater network to reduce overflows

Wellington Water is asking for public input about the impact of any wastewater overflows in their local area.

Water main burst - Severn Street Island Bay

The number of properties in Severn Street affected by the water outage has been reduced from 250 properties to 70 (between 15-77 Severn Street).

However, those left without water to their homes will have another significant wait until service can be restored – the estimated time of repair is at least 8 hours.

All Martinborough residents and businesses are urged to conserve water

Repairs at the treatment plant have been successful, and we are currently working to bring the plant back online.

Thanks again to the residents of Martinborough for their conservation efforts so far. We continue to ask residents to keep their conservation efforts up through the weekend until Monday to assist with reservoir recovery.

Wellington councils lodge $47m funding application to improve water pipes, create jobs

The chair of the Wellington Water Committee, David Bassett, said today’s submission of a delivery plan for $47.3 million of Government stimulus funding for three waters investment was the result of the constructive and cooperative approach among Wellington Water’s six council owners.

Martinborough wastewater treatment plant potential overflow update

Last Tuesday 18 August, treatment plant operators were alerted to a possible overflow incident at the Martinborough Wastewater Treatment Plant, potentially due to a valve operation failure.
