Latest Updates
Works are progressing with renewal of the water pipe in Chatsworth Road.
After being called away to do emergency works, the crew is set to start work again on Chatsworth Rd on Monday, 2 September.
Trenching and pipelaying is now underway.
Hours of work are between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Parts of Chatsworth and Whitemans roads will be reduced to one lane as the worksite moves down the road. Traffic management personnel will be on site during working hours to manage vehicle flow past the site.

Parking within the work area may be restricted and we ask you to please not park your vehicle within the coned areas. This will help us to get the work done as quickly as possible.
The contractor will be able to provide some limited parking outside number 11 Chatsworth Road from the week beginning 16 December 2024 until 13 January 2025.
To reduce the impact on residents and increase available parking the contractor will leave the site for the Christmas period on 20 December and return to restart works on 13 January 2025. The contractor’s site container has been moved back from the corner of Gloucester Street and will remain on Gloucester Street over the break. The contractor will remove everything else off site and make the site safe for the duration of the Christmas break.
In the New Year, the crew will focus on completing cross connections outside number 11 Chatsworth Road. This is expected to be completed in February 2025. This will be followed by final works outside number 9 Chatsworth Road which we expect to be complete by March 2025.
Due to a history of recurring pipe failures, the aging Chatsworth Rd water main has been deemed unreliable.
To minimise water outages in the area and disruption to customers, we are now renewing the existing water pipe, improving the resilience of the network and access to safe drinking water for the local community.
During the works, part of Whitemans and Chatsworth roads will be reduced to one lane and traffic management will be in place.
Parking and property access may be limited during this time and we will ensure residents are kept updated.

We recognise the works are disruptive for resident parking and are working to minimise this where possible. We thank residents for their continued cooperation and patience.

In the New Year works will firstly focus on connecting existing rider-mains (smaller pipes that supply two of more service connections) to the new water pipe on the south side of the street from number 4 to 22 Chatsworth Road. This will be completed by the end of January and will be followed by continuation of works east of Gloucester Street.
It's been a busy time for the E Carson & Sons crew over the last two weeks working as part of a team to carry out urgent works repairing a major wastewater leak in Days Bay, Eastbourne.
Our priority has been to fix the leak as soon as possible to minimise environmental impacts. So thanks everyone for your patience while they carry out this critical work.
The crew aims to start back on site at Chatsworth Road renewing the water pipe from Monday 2 September.
The crew trenched and laid some pipework at the end of the number 41 Chatsworth driveway last week and are now starting laying pipework in the Number 61 driveway.
