Wallace Street closed to traffic for up to six months

From early Sunday morning (5 January 2020), Wallace Street in the central Wellington suburb of Mt Cook will be closed to through traffic until mid-2020.

From Sunday, Wallace Street will be closed to through traffic until mid-2020.

This will allow us to install major new drinking water pipes in Wallace St that will connect to the future new Omāroro water reservoir.

The rāhui placed over part of Wellington Harbour following a wastewater overflow last weekend was lifted shortly after 10am this morning.

A collapsed wastewater tunnel in the Wellington CBD means that the central city’s wastewater will begin discharging into the harbour this morning. The likely discharge points are near the dive platform, and Whairepo lagoon.

David Bassett was yesterday re-elected chair of the Wellington Water Committee, the shareholder representative body that oversees the water service management company owned by the Wellington, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, and Porirua city councils, South Wairarapa District Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council.
