The Te Mārua emergency Hutt River pumps need to be deployed at the Te Mārua Swimming Hole to enable a critical piece of work to take place on the Kaitoke Flume Bridge project.

The Te Mārua emergency Hutt River pumps allow us to abstract raw water from the Hutt River at Te Mārua if the normal Kaitoke Weir, Tunnels or Flume Bridge are not able to. This is a key piece of infrastructure that improves the resilience of the water supply network and will allow us to continue to supply raw water to the Te Mārua Water Treatment Plant. We will be deploying these pumps during March 2024 so that they are on standby in April 2024 during a critical piece of work that will be taking place on the Kaitoke Flume Bridge. During this time there will be limited access to the Hutt River between Rivendell and the Te Mārua Swimming Hole.
